Ideas Anyone??

Okay people, I need your help. Put on your thinking caps and let's get creative!!!!

I'm trying to come up with some new ideas for date-night with the hubby. Yes, there's the standard dinner & a movie, or even bowling. Those nights have their place, but I don't want to always do the same thing. Our budget is somewhat limited, but thanks to Grandparents (seriously, what would we do without you??) we don't have to worry about child-care costs in general.

Any thoughts? Really, throw them out there...be bold...leave a comment!! Do you have any funny stories of places you've gone, activities you've tried? Now that Ed isn't working a billion hours a week and we actually have time to spend together, I'm trying to inject a little more fun and adventure into our rare evenings out.

Come on people!!!

I always enjoy being outside and being active -- riding our bikes to Dairy Queen or walking at the the dog park or rollerblading around a lake. But I guess all that's harder to do during winter given shorter daylight hours and colder weather.

I also like coffee shops. Dave and I don't go there for dates, but I often meet friends there to chat and catch up...so it might work. The atmosphere is great and it's someplace that's not home. They have some drinks besides coffee too (well at least the ones in MN).

I look forward to seeing other people's suggestions too!

i agree. coffee shops are good. i'm checking back for your friends' suggestions. i need them, too. ok, so what about turning off the tv and doing game night at home? or picking a show at thalian to go see. or going to the tree of lights festival thing at airlie gardens. or you guys each pick out foods that you like: you could pick desserts and ed could pick meats and veggies and then you have a picnic at home where you have to feed each other. i heard about that somewhere - something about teh feeding each other thing, with your hands and all, is supposed to be sensual and make magic happen. but i think sometimes that can lead to making babies. so be careful ;) sometimes the soap box, downtown, has good bands playing. check out creativewilmington.com for different things going on around town. or go to barnes and noble and get a coffee and dessert and flip through house plan magazines or something that you both like and dream together a bit. ...even if it's like a vacation planning magazine. ooh, or go get a couple's massage. ooh, or, get ready at your parents' house for your date and have ed come pick you up, there, like he would if you were dating and ask him to surprise you with an evening together.

I hope to get ideas from you all as well!

Matt and I like to crack open a bottle of wine and watch a movie cuddled up on the couch or sit around teh fire outside. We also like doing activities outside, walking in the arb, biking and golfing. We occasionally play cards.

We also like to go to events like the home shows, car shows, tour of homes and dream big!

Other ideas: museums, planetariums, picnics

We just usually end up doing a good dinner and taking our time eating and having adult conversations - you forget how much you rush your meals with the kiddos....Sometimes we are gone for hours - just going to eat! You could always do a double date with friends or something! That's always fun too!

Here are some more ideas I thought of...

-Going to the library and finding new books to read.
-This is sort of related to Ashley's, but go to a museum (in Mpls, they have this thing called a museum pass and you can go to a bunch of museums, art galleries and the zoo for free)
-Volunteer at a soup kitchen or someplace else (I'm sure your church is a good resource for finding opportunities).

Go to the local museum or gallery and decide which art you would buy if money was not an abject.
Take a class together, dancing, woodworking, doesn't really matter

Yeah, dance classes together are fun! Matt and I took ballroom dancing!
