Dang It!

So my conference call ended at 11:55am. I scoooped up my purse and my car keys, ready to head out for lunch. Call me crazy, but I keep seeing commercials for KFC (crazy I know) and I've had a craving for 3 days now for one of their little snacker sandwiches and some mashed potatoes & gravy. Yum! It's a beautiful day outside-sunny, not too hot. I get out to the car, put the key in the ignition, turn it...and....NOTHING. Yes, that's right. I left the lights on this morning!!! Grrrr. My car was dead. Normally, I drive the Mazda which has a dinging noise if I forget to turn off the lights (very rarely do I utilize this function, as it's a habit to just turn them off). But today I'm driving the Honda which has no such noise. Oops. Not the end of the world...Ed is going to come down here to PPD at the end of the day and jump it. So I ordered a sandwich for delivery and I'm spending my lunch hour surfing the internet and blogging. Lovely.

The only sad thing? No KFC mashed potatoes and gravy. (Imagine the sound on a game show when you lose). Wah wah waaaahhhhh.

Super Quick Update

1. Edwin is still sick. Not throwing up, but the lovely “#2”s. Germs, go away!!

2. Ed has his 2nd interview with Harris Teeter tomorrow at 2pm. Keep praying! He’ll find out if he gets a management position or not

3. I bought a new memory foam pillow today and I cannot WAIT to try it out tonight. For the past week my neck and shoulders have been killing me every morning.

Yucky

My baby is sick :(

Edwin woke up around 2am after throwing up. He got sick a couple more times this morning and has been laying around all day. This child usually has a ton of energy, so I know he's feeling pretty bad. Ed made a little bed for him on the couch...this was the scene a little earlier when he took a nap. He's asleep again right now as I'm typing this (I'm home from work, obviously). Hopefully he'll be feeling better by tomorrow. Poor guy :(

Dang it!

So I had started a post last week about our Myrtle Beach trip, but saved it as a draft until I had a chance to upload pictures. Unfortunately, blogger keeps them in the order they're originally started. So click HERE for that post. Geez.

Anthony

Tonight, we all went to Anthony's t-ball game over at Hugh McRae park. Those kids are so cute!! After the game, we went to dinner at La Costa. Mmmm....Mexican food :) When we sat down, I asked Anthony what his favorite part of tonight's game was. His answer: "When I was on the pinching mountain." I'll go ahead and translate for you...I'm pretty sure he meant pitching mound. Funny stuff!! After dinner was over, Anthony and Edwin were being super cute together. Grandma was holding Edwin, and Anthony was standing on the chair next to them. The boys kept hugging each other--Edwin was actually reaching for Anthony. It was so cute that I decided I needed to take a video of it. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough. Edwin had had enough! But you can at least get a good laugh from it. Anthony kept trying to get me to take a regular picture of him.

Darling Husband

Check this out! When Ed and I got home tonight, these were sitting on our kitchen counter. Now some of you may be thinking "what's the big deal?" But it is a VERY big deal to me. Ed is not the flower-giving-type of guy. And I'm perfectly ok with that. Heck, I know how much they cost! Haha. That just makes these roses all the more special on our anniversary. Thanks darling husband!! Oh yeah, how could I forget to mention the greatest part? He CLEANED MY BATHROOM!!!

731 Days

That's how long Ed and I have been married. Two years tomorrow!!! April 23, 2006...what a great day. The weather was amazing (80 degrees and sunny), a lot of family and friends were there, and we were so in love. Yes, we're still "so in love", but I'd venture to say it's changed a lot in those seven hundred and thirty-one days. Definitely in a good way (for me at least...I'll let Ed do his own post! haha). Nobody can prepare you for what marriage really means- compromise, sacrifice, forgiveness, fun, laughter, stress, learning...I could go on and on. Add a sweet baby Edwin to the mix, and life gets even crazier!! But it's all been completely worth it. Not only have I learned more about my husband (did you know he can juggle??), but I've learned more about myself and my role as a wife. Even when Ed drives me crazy, I thank God every day for bringing him into my life. I can only pray that we are allowed at least 50 more years together. I love you honey!

Interview Update

Okay folks, here’s the quickie update on Harris Teeter. Ed spoke with “Fred” (name has been changed…see earlier post!) this afternoon. Dear Fred was out on vacation all last week, and that’s why he didn’t call on the 14th as originally promised. Oh well. So Fred finally talked to his boss (let’s call him Jack) today. “Jack” wants Ed to come in for another interview and they’ll discuss getting him started in the program. That would be the management program with Harris Teeter. The position he’s looking at is Fresh Foods Department Manager…we’re not sure if that’s assistant mgr, or just plain old manager. Either way, we’d be thrilled! Fred just needs to confirm a date/time with Jack, and then he’ll call Ed to set it up. I don’t know about you people, but this sounds very promising to me!! So keep up those prayers…they are very much appreciated.

Myrtle Beach

Finally!! I’m posting some pictures from our trip to Myrtle Beach last week. The first one is our hotel from the outside. We were on the 12th floor…and the second picture is the view from our balcony. Beautiful!! On Wednesday morning, we went to see Le Grande Cirque at the Palace Theater. Let me tell you, this show was absolutely amazing. For lunch, we headed to Nascar CafĂ©. Yes, Ed is a race fan. He even let me take his picture in front of the Dale Earnhardt car (yes, it was one of his actual cars). We spent the rest of the day riding go-carts. Thursday we played mini-golf, and that night went to the Comedy Cabana to see Tommy Blaze. I laughed so hard I had the ugly laugh going on!! You know, where you’re laughing so hard you have to cover your face because you just know it’s not lookin’ pretty. Even Ed had tears streaming down his face. Good times. Our trip was a lot of fun, very relaxing, and a much needed break from real life. The only downside was that I missed Edwin like crazy!!! I think he missed us too because for the next three days, he wouldn’t let us out of his sight. Anyway, hope you enjoy a couple pics.

Unavailable

You know how on Outlook, you can use an "out of office" message when you go on vacation? Well....consider this post to be my out of office message. Ed and I are all packed and ready to hit the road. Two years ago after we got married, we never took a honeymoon. So this week is our slightly delayed trip. At his Christmas party, he won a 3 night stay at a 3-bedroom oceanfront suite at Southwind in Myrtle Beach. Yee haw!!! Katie is taking care of Edwin for the week (I'm going to miss him SO MUCH!!!!)....and Pappy is graciously helping us with the dogs (Sorry Pappy). See you next week!!

Happy Birthday From Elmo!!!

As I'm sure most of you know, today is my sister Katie's birthday!!!! And her hubby Brian had his birthday yesterday. So, in honor of the big days, I had Edwin do a little dance this morning. He has an Elmo that sings two different versions of the Birthday song. Check it out!

Pray Pray Pray!!

Ed had a job interview today with Harris Teeter. When the lady called to set up the interview, he didn’t think to ask them what the position was for, he just assumed it was either a butcher position, or manager. Well he quickly found out this morning that the interview was for a part-time produce clerk. Um, what?!? True story. Basically, the guy conducting the interview (either a store mgr or district mgr, I’m not sure….let’s call him Fred for blogging purposes) told Ed that he was overqualified for the position and wanted to know who had set up the interview. Long story short, “Fred” liked Ed (hey that rhymes!!) and mentioned that there is a new store opening in Leland. For those of you out-of-towners, Leland is waaaay closer to our house than the store he interviewed at. After passing a personality test and a math test, Fred said that he would talk to his boss and get back to Ed on Monday. He’s being considered for a management position!! Ed’s memory isn’t the greatest, but he thinks it’s for an assistant store manager! Yee haw. This is a GREAT company, with awesome benefits….he’d most likely have semi-normal hours (of course, anything is normal compared to the life of a chef). And it would be closer to home. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray for Ed. Pray that if it is God’s will, Ed will get this job. In my little imaginary world, I can see Ed finding out on Monday that he got the job, and we can go off to Myrtle Beach for 4 days to celebrate! Seriously though, I think if he did get it, most likely he’d go to their management school, and then shadow people to learn the job until the Leland store opens in Fall of 2008.

There you have it. I will definitely post an update on Monday…

PRAY!!

Welcome Grandma Jeanie & Grandpa Glenn!!

Hooray! Grandma Jeanie and Grandpa Glenn from Ohio have finally joined this century...they now have high-speed internet!!!!!!! Applause Applause!

So what does this mean for my "loyal" blog readers? Well, you'll be seeing a lot more videos of sweet little Edwin. And most of them will probably bore you to tears. But for Grandma and Grandpa who rarely get to see him, it'll be like watching Hollywood blockbusters.

For instance, here is a video of the birthday boy on Sunday March 30th, having his very first chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing and sprinkles. Delicious!

Forgot to add a Title. Oops.

(This picture is staying right here because I'm tired of trying to move it around. Blogger should give you the option of putting a picture where you want it!!!)
In any case, this is Edwin in his new pj's playing with a new toy (read the post)

I had fully intended to write this post yesterday, but I was enjoying the day so much, I just couldn’t bring myself to go online. Then when I read everybody else’s posts about the weekend, I realized I had to chime in too!

I loved this weekend! It was one of those weekends when you don’t have a big event, you don’t have real plans, but it ends up being wonderful.

On Saturday, my darling husband let me sleep in. Yes, that’s right, he got up with Edwin so I could sleep!!! I think that’s a great way to start any day…haha. Once I finally rolled out of bed, we essentially spent the day hanging out. Edwin stayed in his new jammies most of the day and played with a lot of his new toys. Apparently one of his favorites was given to him by my friend Jessica. It’s a Leap Frog magnetic toy that goes on the refrigerator. You make matches with the different pieces and learn about the animals. He loves it!! The only time we ventured out of the house was to the grocery store and the movie store. After Edwin went to bed, we watched “No Country for Old Men”. I won’t say too much about it for those of you who haven’t seen it yet…but I have a mixed review. Overall, a relaxing Saturday.

Sunday was even better. I got up early to drive to Wilmington for the 8:30 service at Port City Community Church. Here’s the best part—some of my small group came with me!! They go to a different church, but I’m always talking about PC3. So it was awesome to be able to share such a great worship experience with them. After church, I headed home to see my boys. It was such a beautiful day (70+ and sunny) that we decided to take Edwin for a walk down at Holden Beach. I just love springtime! It was sunny, there was a light breeze, the temperature was just perfect. I admit I felt bad for the MN folks, particularly Duluth, that were supposed to be getting snow. But not so bad that I couldn’t resist taking a picture of the ocean!! When we got back in the car after our walk, Edwin was exhausted. He fell asleep almost immediately and continued sleeping even after we got home. Ed turned on the race, I laid on the couch and read my book…then decided to take a nap! Seriously, does it get any better? Haha. A nice quiet evening topped off the weekend. I just kept thanking God for everything—my adorable son, my wonderful husband, the great weather, sleep! Amazing.

I hope everybody else enjoyed their days as much as I did. Here are some pictures for you:

Edwin's new baseball game from Uncle Dave and Aunt Jenny in MN. Look...he's even wearing his baseball pj's!!

The view on Holden Beach yesterday. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Edwin was happy to get outside with Mommy and Daddy. He loves that stroller!

Once again, we wore the poor kid out. This was him about 3 minutes after we got back in the car.
