Fever

This has been a long weekend at the Boso household. On Saturday, Edwin developed a fever--it came out of nowhere! When he woke up from his nap a little after two, he was burning up. All he wanted to do was snuggle with mommy (not that I'm complaining about that part!) and/or lay on the couch. It was quite pitiful actually. I'm assuming this is due to teething, but I really can't be sure. He kept all of his food down, and after some Tylenol, the fever subsided. But after just a couple of hours, it was back up again. So basically, he'd be comfortable for about 3 hours, then miserable for another hour until we could give him more medicine. Ed's old roommate Dave and his sister Des came down from Ohio yesterday and spent the night at our house. Unfortunately for them, it was the first night in about 8 months that Edwin was up every hour on the hour. He was inconsolable! The same thing went on for most of today...and into tonight. Currently, he's asleep, but I'm not sure how long it's going to last. Please pray that he will get some rest tonight (and rest for mommy & daddy too). I guess if it doesn't go away, I'll have to bring him in to the doctor. Poor little baby :(

Aren't They Cute?

If it's true and a picture really is worth a thousand words, then I'm not going to waste any more time here.

Some Sort of Record!

I am pleased to report that as of 12:00pm today, I have officially worked out five days in a row!!! Granted, there are some health nuts out there that may not see the amazingness (is that a word?) of this accomplishment, but I don't care. Haha. Even last year when I was making my first attempt at removing some baby weight, I don't think I hit the gym that many days in a row. I haven't had a coke since June 2nd....but here's the best part: I haven't wanted a coke in about the same amount of time! I'm enjoying the time in the gym, I'm enjoying the extra energy, I'm enjoying the thought that I'm getting healthier (to hopefully be around for a looong time), I'm enjoying the privilege of honoring God with my body. I have a couple of goals for this whole "thing". One is of course to lose weight, another is to get healthier for the next possible pregnancy (not yet), but my main goal is my testimony. You know how when people lose a lot of weight and/or reshape their body from lifting weights & a healthy diet, others usually ask "How did you do it?" I want to be able to proudly and boldly say that the only way I could do it was through Jesus. He has already been working on me to change my desires and to reshape the way I think about food and exercise, and every day I pray that He will continue to work in me and through me. Have a great day!!!

Cardboard Testimonies

A friend of mine sent me this link today. Normally, I don't pay much attention to youtube. My experience with the site is pretty much limited to hearing about it on the news. You know, someone does something stupid, and their so-called "friend" posts it on youtube. My image of the site was pretty much all negative. But I read something this week that basically said just because something is used for evil doesn't make the thing itself evil. God can use whatever means He wants to redeem something. I am so grateful to my friend for sending this to me. I don't have words to express how powerful it is. PLEASE just take a few minutes to watch the video. It could possibly change your life. Watch it, and see what God can do with ordinary broken people like you and me.

Remix!!

On Sunday, Mom, Katie, Anthony, Edwin and I went to a birthday party for a very special little boy named Justice. A friend of mine (Colandra...see the third picture) is taking care of her little brother (Justice...not pictured...oops) along with her own two year old son. I don't know how she manages everything, but she does so with a big smile and an even bigger personality. The party was so much fun. She rented the clubhouse at her apartment complex and we had a pool party!! Anthony had a blast showing off his recently attained swimming/diving skills....and Edwin of course loved every moment of being in the water. We had to cut the pool time a little short though because there was a big 'ole thunderstorm coming. Back inside, it was time for pizza and CAKE! This was no ordinary cake time though. We all sang the regular Happy Birthday song, then Colandra yelled "REMIX!!!" I swear it was like hearing a gospel choir. The rest of the family all started singing Stevie Wonder's version of Happy birthday. It was so awesome!!! If Colandra ever gets around to sending me more pictures, I'll be sure to post them. Unfortunately my batteries died shortly after I started taking pics :)

Get This

Yesterday right before church started, I was standing out in the lobby on the phone with my friend Cat (she was on her way and we were trying to figure out where we were going to sit). Anyway, this other girl walks up to me and kind of stares at me for a second…almost like she knows me. I quickly hung up the phone because she looked a little familiar too. Suddenly she says, “Diana?” It took me a second, but then I realized it was Maria. I’m sure you’re thinking, uh…what’s the big deal? Here’s the big deal. We graduated high school together. In DULUTH, MINNESOTA!!!!!!! I cannot believe I ran into somebody all the way down here that I went to school with. And at church of all places!! She introduced me to her husband Mark. They’ve been married for seven years now and have a four year old named Jacob (adorable little boy). We stood there in shock for a couple of minutes, and then exchanged information (email, phone, etc.) After church was over and I picked Edwin up from Grow Zone, we spent another 20 minutes or so catching up. I’m still in a little shock this morning, but I’m looking forward to talking to her some more. Crazy.

Shameless Plug

Check out yondershore.com to find out the story behind these stickers. It involves a new mom, an adorable baby girl, and an irritating tailgater. Please please please check it out!!! And yes, you can even buy one (or more) of these fashionable stickers for your own car. I can say that my Mazda will soon be sporting a blue one. Oh yeah, and send this to your friends!

Visitors

Last week, Ed's nephew (well, he's my nephew too) Jerry came down from Ohio. He just graduated from high school, and he & a bunch of friends were vacationing in Myrtle Beach for the week. A few of them came over for dinner on Tuesday night. Ed was so excited to see Jerry--after all, he practically helped raise him. All of the kids (man I sound old) were grateful for a free dinner...plus we gave them all the leftovers for the next day. Edwin enjoyed playing with his big cousin Jerry too. I tried to upload a few more pictures, but I kept getting an error...so you'll just have to enjoy these three.

**Update**
In case you were wondering, and even if you weren't, I am still going strong. No coke now for two whole weeks!! I was down another 0.4 lbs this week. I'm taking that as a huge success. I worked out 3 days in the gym, and the other two days at work, I made sure to take the stairs at least three times (up to the 7th floor!).

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has sent me healthy recipes and tips. I'm looking forward to trying them out...maybe I'll even post some pictures for you! As an update, I'm still Coca-cola free and feeling better than ever. I've become that crazy-water-drinking-constantly-peeing lady at work, but I'm okay with that. I lost 3.8 pounds last week (woo hoo!!) which has just encouraged me to keep going. What is my secret?? Every morning as I'm getting ready for work, I surrender my body to God. I declare that I want to worship Him and not food, not Coke. To some people, this sounds ridiculous. But I tell you what, I've never (and I mean NEVER) been so excited to work out before...to eat healthy...to fuel my body with the right foods...to honor God with my body (1Cor 6:19-20). I'm not saying I won't have days that I struggle, but I know that with Jesus as my strength, I can't go wrong. The newest verse I've started saying over and over while working out is Phillippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."

So again, thanks for the recipes and encouragement...and thank you God for this body you have given me.

For those of you who aren't "in the know", Edsmas is another way we fondly refer to my dear husband's birthday. A couple of years ago, he was telling people at work that his birthday was coming up...He said something along the lines of it being a holiday and thus Edsmas was born. I even have a custom sign that I hang up every year for him. It's quite funny actually. So Happy Birthday and Happy Edsmas!!

Recipes Anyone??

I need your help. I'm looking for some healthy (yes, I said healthy) recipes that are fairly easy to make. I'm sitting here making my grocery list for the week and I'm trying to plan out meals. I'm ashamed to say that it's been a REALLY long time since I've focused on the healthy part, and my repertoire of meals consists of sloppy joes, pizza, grilled cheese & tomato soup, taco salad, and burgers. Not exactly the ideal way to fuel my body.

So here's your challenge. Please please please send me some healthy recipes. I know there are lots of you out there who just stalk my blog and never comment (hey, I'm guilty of it too. I stalk a ton of blogs!!). But just this once, step out from behind the curtain and send me some creative ideas. You can either put them in the comments section for all to read, or you can send me an email (sunshinegrl243@aol.com). Either way, I appreciate it!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have to pat myself on the back for a second and say that I've not had any Coca-cola since Monday...AND...I worked out three days in a row this week!!! For those of you who do not struggle with food/exercise this might seem like a small accomplishment. But to me, it's huge.

Update

Ok. Let me apologize for the very cryptic post on Saturday night. Most of you know by now that it had absolutely nothing to do with me, or even anybody close to me. I just happened to go to an event that didn’t quite turn out the way I thought it would. That’s it. Nothing more dramatic than that. Sometimes I just have to say something! Haha. So thanks for all the concern, all the prayers, etc. Just direct them to where they need to be. God will know what you’re talking about, even if you don’t.

On a happy note…I’m so excited for tonight! After I pick Edwin up from daycare, we’re headed over to Katie & Brian’s house for an impromptu BBQ. Edwin is going to go in the pool for the first time!! Hopefully I’ll be able to convince Katie to take some pics for you.
